Due to the important role that Air Creebec will be playing in the development of the Plan Nord, the provincial government has granted the airline $1.3 million in non-refundable financial support to relocate its hangar at Montréal-Trudeau Airport.
In total, this project, worth an estimated $9.9 million, will create nine jobs and consolidate 62.
This new project will see the demolition and rebuilding of Air Creebec’s hangar at Dorval Airport. The new facility will be used for aircraft maintenance and the building of new administrative offices and a waiting room.
Air Creebec will also be assessing the potential market for adding new routes. This may include an air link to Matagami, but this would be contingent on development opportunities in the Nord-du-Québec region.
The financial support for this project came on behalf of Pierre Corbeil, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Minister responsible for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region and the Nord-du-Québec region and MNA for Abitibi-Est and Sam Hamad, the Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade and Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region.
