The Caribou are on the move, mostly on the Route du Nord, and as a result there is a Caribou warning in effect. If you see them on the roads, use extra caution. The Caribou are not aggressive by nature, however they can be dangerous if they are spooked or wounded. They are reportedly running next to the vehicles, slowing down alongside. There was one reported case of a Caribou charging a vehicle. However, according to tallyman and Director of Public Works for Mistissini Robert Jimikin, it is not in their nature to do such a thing unprovoked.
Normally they show up between Christmas and New Years and are in smaller herds. This year as well as last year, they showed up in the middle of November.
