All 1700 members of the Attawapiskat First Nation were airlifted into Moosonee after ice damming on the River threatened the village with extensive flooding. 800 people were evacuated on May 20, the rest were evacuated the next day.
It’s not known at this time how long they will be away from their homes or the amount of damage that has been caused by the flooding.
