A Cree man frustrated at the slow pace of compensation to survivors of residential schools has set out to march from Edmonton to Ottawa.

While walking along the highway outside North Battleford, Saskatchewan, a couple of weeks ago, he told one newspaper reporter he is engaged on a personal search for justice and wants to shame the government into action.

“There seems to be only one class of people who get justice in this country of ours,” he said.

“There’s a lot of people who aren’t looked after, people who can’t afford a lawyer.”

The Edmonton man plans to complete the last 100 miles of his journey barefoot
