A new separatist group has emerged that promises to “ostracize” opponents of Quebec sovereignty and use protest tactics such as “occupation” of stores that do not obey Quebec’s language law, Bill 101.
The secretive group’s president says the movement is not terrorist, but warned that some activities could degenerate into violence.
The Mouvement de Libération Nationale du Québec is seeking a moratorium on immigration to Quebec, “unrelenting struggle” against Canadian domination and “internal enemies,” and an all-French school system.
Its founding president, Raymond Villeneuve, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his activities as a member of the Front de Libération du Québec.
News of the creation of the new group came shortly after sovereigntist Pierre Bourgault accused Jews, Greeks and Italians of being “racist” for opposing sovereignty.
