Donations from community members, Cree entities and from various charity fundraisers totaled $32,400 to help fill their annual holiday food baskets and to help families throughout the year.

Meechum also managed to collect between 200 and 250 Christmas gifts for needy children within the community with the annual Angel tree gift drive.

“It’s always a good feeling,” said Quinn. “Throughout the months we try and help at least two or three families a month on average. We don’t prepare the baskets but they get a food voucher to be able to purchase groceries and whatever they need.”

More so than anything, Quinn wished to express her thanks on behalf of Meechum to all those who contributed and volunteered their time and hard work in wrapping gifts, sorting out the goods and distributing the gifts and baskets to the needy families.
