Two people died in a tragic accident that occurred on route 109 north of Amos on Labour Day weekend.
Hugues Beaulieu, SQ spokesperson for the Amos region, said that the driver lost control of the vehicle while heading north and flipped over.
“The driver was believed to have been speeding,” Beaulieu said. “An investigation is currently underway to determine how fast they were going. No one was wearing their seatbelt and that contributed to the death and injuries of the people in the car.”
No other vehicle was involved in the incident, which took place Sunday, September 5 at 3 pm. Beaulieu said that alcohol was not a factor.
Edward Gilpin, Audrey Gilpin, Norman Voyageur and two-year-old Franklin Gilpin survived the crash. Minnie Gilpin Sr., 53 and Florianne Gilpin, 19, died at the scene.
