The Cree Nation Youth Council Inspire Hope Youth Symposium will be held at the Hotel Forestel in Val-d’Or June 22-24 and for those interested in attending, it is not too late to register.
This year’s three-day symposium is jam-packed with inspiring speakers, workshops, award shows, a public-speaking competition and live entertainment.
Former Grand Chief Billy Diamond and Chief Clarence Louie, CEO of the Osoyoos Indian Band Development Corporation, will be sharing their wisdom with the youth.
Hot Cree acts like CerAmony and Gordon Iserhoff will perform on separate nights and get the youth tapping their toes.
According to Jonathan Saganash, communications agent for CREECO, this year’s symposium has a special event aimed at bringing the Cree youth together with the people of Val-d’Or to showcase Cree culture.
“On the third day of the symposium we will be putting on a huge feast at the Hotel Forestel where we will be sharing Cree recipes, particularly how we cook meat, with both Natives and non-Natives,” said Saganash.
For those looking to attend, you can still register prior to the event or at the door upon arrival. Those in need of financial support to attend the symposium or more information can contact their local youth council.
