Crees picked up three awards at the 2nd annual Gala of Excellence sponsored by the Conseil régionale de la Radissonie.
Native Adventures of Mistissini won the award for Best Reception and Service to Clientele. The award for Best Marketing of Quebec Tourist Product went to Chisasibi’s Mandow Agency. Native Adventures was also nominated in this category.
The Team of the Year Award was taken by the Mistissini Trappers hockey squad.
Other Cree nominations: the Mistissini Cultural Affairs Department for Organization of the Year (this award went to the Artists’ Club of Radisson); the Mistissini Economic Development Department (Tourism Sector) for Best Public Tourism Enterprise; and Steve Cheechoo of Mistissini for Athlete of the Year.
About 175 people attended the gala in Radisson’s community centre on May 18.
