Nituuchischaayihtitaau Aschii project will start its tour of Eeyou Istchee this spring and summer in the communities of Waskaganish and Chisasibi.
Developed by the Cree Board of Health and Social Services, the program aims to study how development projects and environmental contaminants affect people’s health.
Community members will be selected randomly and asked to volunteer information regarding nutrition, physical activity, lifestyle and the benefits of traditional food.
The information gathered will help each community, along with the CHBSSJB, to better understand its particular health needs.
Nituuchischaayihtitaau Aschii will be in Waskaganish from May 26 until June 12, and Chisasibi from June 16 to July 5.
The health project will visit all nine communities in Eeyou Istchee by 2012.
