The Native Friendship Centre of Montreal is raising funds for a scholarship fund forurban Aboriginal students, its first event is a pasta dinner on Thursday, July 30,at 6 p.m. Cost: $10/plate.
“The dinner will be made by a fabulous cook with lots of experience (my ma),” writes one of the organizers in a letter. “A savory meat sauce served over angel hair pasta! Everybody is welcome! Bring friends and colleagues!”
The fund will help Aboriginal families meet school-related expenses for their preschool and elementary school kids. It will also give grants for young children to get involved in extracurricular activities like piano, dance and art lessons.
The centre will also be holding carwashes, raffles, a garage sale and, tentatively, aBINGO. They could use volunteers. For more info call Sonia Mitchell at(514) 499-1854 ext. 230.
