Brookfield First Nations energy advocate at Brookfield Renewable Power and famed Mohawk composer John Kim Bell has been appointed leader of Strategic Business Development for First Nations University.
The troubled Saskatchewan university lost its federal funding earlier this year as a result of a spending scandal when it was discovered that senior administrators had been using university funds for personal trips.
Kim Bell’s role will be to appoint a permanent board of directors along with policies of governance and a plan to improve all aspects of the university including the management and faculty. He will also be looking to expand the school’s curriculum and revamp the business aspect of the university to attract more international students.
“I would like to thank my company and employer, Brookfield Renewable Power, for providing my services to the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and First Nations University in the short term with cost as an expression of social corporate responsibility,” stated Kim Bell in a press release.
