Roger Snowboy, 49, was found dead in his police cell after being detained overnight by Chisasibi police on the night of November 18. According to Chisasibi Police Director Samuel House, Snowboy had been picked up by police for public intoxication and disturbances. House stated that Snowboy had been a “regular” at the local police station and he had been brought in many times in the past for similar reasons.
“In morning when we found him, he had stopped breathing at around 6:00 am. We think that he might have choked on his own vomit,” said House.
According to House, Snowboy was the only individual who had been brought into the police custody that night and he had no apparent injuries.
An investigation into the matter is currently being carried out by the Sûreté du Québec.
