Who would have thought that four friends could “make it” as a band by performing traditional folk music?
The true followers of the band Great Big Sea never doubted it for a moment.
This energetic group of guys perform all kinds of music, but they concentrate on giving Newfoundland’s traditional songs their own contemporary style that has made them so popular.
Their original music is beautiful, spirited and unique. Newfoundland is known for its friendly people and beautiful landscapes, and Great Big Sea represents their home with heart and pride.
Voted Entertainer of the Year for four consecutive years at the East Coast Music Awards, Great Big Sea started out playing the Maritime club scene, but soon moved on to the rest of Canada, the States, England, Ireland and Scotland.
By the time they began working on their fourth and most recent album, Turn, they had a gold record, two multi-platinum records and hundreds of sold-out concerts.
With hit songs on the radio and lively and colourful music videos, they continue to gain support from all over the world.
In concert, Great Big Sea is entertaining, fun and full of personality. So, if you and ‘da b’ys’ aren’t at nothing Friday, November 19, head on down to Metropolis (59 Ste. Catherine East) at 8:30 PM for a grand old time.
