It’s been a great year for, Patricia Menarick, a Cree student at Canadore College. She was one of 99 Aboriginal graduates and received one of the Ontario college’s most prestigious awards. Menarick was nominated by her professors of the Social Services Worker program and was the chosen candidate for the Governor General’s Award.

Menarick, who comes from Chisasibi, was chosen for her inspiration to her professors and fellow students to whom she showed that hard work and determination does pay off. As well, Menarick was noted in her promotion and preservation of her culture.

Congratulations, you have truly made the Aboriginal Learning Unit, Canadore College staff, and your people very proud. Menarick completed a dual diploma in Social Services Worker and Indigenous Wellness & Addictions.
