Chisasibi’s first Walleye fishing Derby made a splash this weekend, wrapping up on August 17 with big fish and bigger prizes.
Organized by the Chisasibi Sports & Recreation Association and held at nearby Duncan Lake, the event attracted anglers from across Quebec.
“It was our 1st Walleye fishing derby and we will definitely have one again next year!” said co-organizer Sarah Moar. “We had good feedback from the participants & visitors. It was an awesome weekend.”
The top prize, a Chevrolet Silverado, went to Ian Langdon. Second and third place prizes were a new boat and an ATV, respectively. Those who placed 4th to 8th won cash prizes.
