A shooting incident in Great Whale January 22 left a hole in the community’s gymnasium, but fortunately no one was hurt.
One eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he heard a “loud noise,” but he didn’t know what it was at first.
There were a number of children in the triple gym at the time, yet none were injured. According to the eyewitness, the bullet “went through the exterior wall, and hit the other side of the building.”
Larry Hubert, captain of the Kativik Regional Police, said that the weapon used was a high-powered rifle “believed to be a.303.”
“We have a couple suspects right now, but the file is still under investigation. It appears to be a young kid.”
Hubert said that this was an isolated incident, and that if in fact it was a juvenile, no charges can be laid.
