We met up with James Gunner and seven of his walkers on the Route due Nord heading towards Nemaska. It was April 4th and it was a nice warm day. We talked with James and he said that it was hard to walk without snow and that was why they were “walking on sand (the road), It’s hard but I don’t want to quit.” He predicted that their last day of walking would be on the 8th. The walk’s purpose was to raise money for research into the rare brain disease that took 21 young lives so far. (See page 7. Ed.) James said that their last day would be on the anniversary of one of the children’s passing. In Nemaska we saw the lodge being prepared that would be used to welcome the walkers to Nemaska.
